The Supervisor, Soils Receiving manages the Soils Receiving team who is responsible for receiving, sorting, and preparing laboratory samples that enter the laboratory via freight carriers. The role requires people, process, and systematic management in order to provide quality data to our clients.
What You'll Do
- Manage and lead the Soils Receiving department, providing guidance, training, and performance management
- Identify areas for improvement and implement process enhancements to optimize productivity and reduce costs
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines
- Lead new employee onboarding, training, and support for Human Resources systems
- Responsible for direct report time approval and management for employees within the timekeeping system
- Responsible for managing seasonal employees during peak seasons including interviewing, selecting new hires, relationship management, performance monitoring, compliance oversight, and conflict resolution
- Responsible for developing, implementing, and following safety solutions within your department
- Fill in for employees within the department when needed, especially during peak seasons
- Model our core value of safety by leading and enabling a culture in which you and your team are actively contributing to a safe work environment
- Other duties as required
What You'll Bring - High School Diploma or equivalent required
- At least 1 year of leadership experience required
- 1+ year of direct people management experience preferred
- Excellent communication skills
- Project management and coordination experience preferred
- Deep understanding of operational needs preferred (e.g. technical support of laboratory processes and equipment, general agronomic support, and resource management)
