Internal Auditor
The Internal Auditor based in our Toronto office will be responsible for evaluating the internal controls for our Sarbanes-Oxley and the National Instrument 52-109 requirements. This position would also participate in the execution of internal audit projects and support certain regulatory reporting including the Extractive Sector Transparency Measures Act (ESTMA).
Primary Responsibilities
- Responsible for maintaining the internal controls documentation including narratives and control matrices;
- Assist with preparing annual risk assessment, scoping and planning of internal controls program;
- Coordinate and work directly with external auditors, consultants and site management to execute the internal controls plan;
- Perform testing to assess the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls;
- Present findings and control deficiencies to management;
- Prepare written reports to management and the Audit Committee;
- Co-ordinate and conduct follow-up reviews to ensure timely remediation of control gaps;
- Maintain an effective working relationship with mine site management and staff;
- Assist with executing internal audit projects and investigations;
- Support ESTMA reporting including the collection and validation of information;
- Pursue continuous professional development opportunities and willingness to grow; and
- An ability to travel up to 30% (up to 2-week intervals).
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications And Experience
- CPA or equivalent designation;
- 3+ years of audit experience in public accounting or in the resource industry;
- Experience in a SOX environment is an asset;
- Strong understanding of the COSO and COBIT framework with strong technical audit skills;
- Effective communication skills (verbal, written and presentation);
- Demonstrate time management and multi-tasking skills to meet deadlines;
- Ability to analyze, evaluate and provide practical and value-added recommendations;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with all levels of management up to and including the C-suite;
- Proven ability to work well with a diverse stakeholder group;
- Experience with SAP is an asset;
- Mining experience an asset; and
- Spanish and/or French language skill an asset.
Salary Range: CAD $78,750 to $122,350 / year
The expected salary range for this role is intended to support transparency and informed decision making. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience and internal equity.
