Your Impact
As the Lead for the Legacy Region, you will strengthen Newmont’s long‑term stewardship of historical mining sites by driving safety culture, reducing environmental and legal risk, and ensuring communities and regulators maintain trust in Newmont’s legacy operations. Your leadership directly protects people, the environment, and the company’s reputation.
As Part of Our Team, You Will
- Provide visible, consistent safety leadership and embed strong safety practices across legacy sites.
- Lead annual budgeting, long‑term liability forecasting, and execution of regional plans.
- Oversee site activities through site managers and senior technical specialists while coordinating priorities across multiple locations.
- Drive short‑term planning to identify emerging risks and develop projects to address them.
- Engage and collaborate with internal partners (Legal, Accounting, H&S, Environmental, Social Performance, etc.) and external stakeholders including regulators, communities, NGOs, consultants, and legal counsel.
- Cultivate innovative solutions to reduce long‑term risk and cost at legacy sites.
- Develop contingency and mitigation plans for high‑risk scenarios.
Prerequisites for Your Success in This Role
- Broad knowledge spanning safety, civil engineering, closure and reclamation, environmental compliance, stakeholder relations, and accounting.
- Expertise in health & safety, negotiation, civil/environmental engineering, technical communication, budgeting/forecasting, and environmental legal frameworks (CERCLA, RCRA, UMTRCA, ASAOCs, Consent Decrees).
- Experience leading teams, influencing diverse stakeholders, and navigating complex regulatory environments.
- Strong decision‑making and problem‑solving abilities using established systems and patterns.
- Self‑motivated with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in dynamic environments.
Your Work Environment
- The preferred location for candidates is near our corporate headquarters, in Denver, Colorado; however highly qualified candidates near our regional offices, or any of our site locations, will be considered.
- Collaboration and interaction are expected with teams across the global, regional, and site organization as well as across other service and operational areas of Newmont across multiple time zones.
- The listed salary range applies to positions based in Colorado. Compensation may vary for candidates hired in other locations.
- You will guide multiple legacy sites within a geographic region, partnering closely with internal functions and external legal counsel, regulators, community leaders, landholders, NGOs, and contractors. The role oversees annual budgets ranging from $9M to $50M, depending on region.

The salary range offered for this role is USD $121.900- 170,625. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
