Rainy River Mine
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. About The Role
Position: Mine Operations Leadhand
Schedule: 7/7 – 12 Hour rotating dayshifts and nightshifts
Position Reports To: Senior Mine Operations Supervisor
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
- Assist in leading daily safety meetings.
- Conduct and complete monthly required safety key performance indicators (KPIs) and hazard identification.
- Complete training of INX intuition and implementation as a part of uploading safety documentation and investigation reporting.
- Maintain accurate safety documentation and support senior supervisor with incident reporting/investigations.
Operations & Production
- Monitor and optimize production targets and KPIs.
- Coordinate daily operations in the open pit and dump areas.
- Operate various mining equipment as needed by the senior supervisor.
- Assist in developing and implementing efficiency improvements (shift changes and blast delays).
- Ensure operation shift logs and signoffs are documented and signed off when required to do so.
Leadership & Team Development
- Provide direct supervision and guidance to crew members as directed by senior supervisor.
- Mentor and train new employees on safety procedures and operational best practices.
- Foster a positive work environment that promotes safety and productivity.
- Facilitate effective communication between management and crew members.
- Support direction of work assignments.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years of mining or equivalent industrial type environment work experience with a demonstrated history of leadership.
- A strong understanding of and experience with open pit mining practices and equipment capabilities. Ability to operate various types of mining equipment is considered an asset.
- A solid working knowledge and understanding of procedures related to open pit mining (Safety, Environmental, Operational, etc.).
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and maps, and direct work accordingly.
- Have or able to obtain Ontario Surface Mining Common Core Modules.
- Well-developed planning, problem solving, decision making, interpersonal, communication and organization skills.
- Work in a multidisciplinary team environment to manage and meet deadlines.
- Positive attitude and commitment to safety.
