About The Role
Our Iron Ore, HSEC team are looking for experienced
Health and Safety Advisor’s to provide professional support to the Health, Safety and Environment and operations teams, through coordination and administration of HSE processes and procedures.

Opportunities exist at Gudai-Dari, for Fly in, fly out candidates from Perth or Busselton, rosters will vary.
Reporting to the Superintendent Health & Safety, you will
- Developing and providing routine H&S information (e.g. safety statistics, incident information, risk analysis, educational material) to operational leaders.
- Assist in facilitating incident investigations, risk assessments, and upskilling initiatives.
- Support high-risk activities, such as shutdowns.
- Assist frontline leaders in developing and mentoring Health & Safety Representatives.
- Analyse data and provide insights to guide recommendations for reducing risk exposure, with a focus on critical control effectiveness.
- Advise operational leaders and support assurance activities to maintain health and safety standards.
- Coordinate initiatives that promote workforce wellbeing and drive continuous improvement in Health and Safety.
What You’ll Bring
- Relevant health and safety qualification or demonstrated experience working in an operational health and safety role, coupled with a passion for, and sound knowledge of health and safety.
- Experience in data and trend analysis in health and safety indicators to drive insights and interventions
- Experience with incident investigations and risk assessment techniques.
- High level of integrity and values-based decision making.
- Ability to work in a team and autonomously with strong communication, engagement and influencing skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of Rio Tinto Health and Safety systems, HSEC Standards, and key risk management and assurance processes is desirable.
- Excellent computer literacy including use of various reporting systems.
- Adaptability and flexibility to move between panels to ensure operational coverage and support is maintained.
- An ability to work in a fast-paced environment supporting multiple stakeholder groups with strong problem-solving skills.
- Adaptability, flexibility & a solutions-based mind-set
- Valid C-Class Australian driver’s license or equivalent

Where you’ll be working
Our $2.6 billion Gudai-Dari iron ore project is set to be our most technologically advanced mine. In addition to technology already in use across Rio Tinto, such as autonomous trucks, trains and drills, Gudai-Dari has more than 70 design innovations in scope.
When fully operational, in its first phase, Gudai-Dari will produce up to 43 million tonnes of iron ore a year, contributing to our flagship product, the Pilbara Blend™. It will also become a new production hub for our iron ore business, incorporating a processing plant and infrastructure including a 166-kilometre rail line connecting the mine to our existing network.
Gudai-Dari will also create jobs and business opportunities in Western Australia, including for Traditional Owners and Indigenous people. The construction phase will create over 2,000 jobs; when operational, we expect the mine to employ about 600 people.
