Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Assistant-Superintendent, you will perform your duties as a member of the Finance department and collaborate with other departments within the Nunavut. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment. You will be responsible to establish the Nunavut capital management process. You will work in close collaboration with the members of the project teams. You will analyze the costs of major project, act as a business partner to the Project management and discipline leaders in terms of control and management of costs, to respect and track changes compare to the initial budget allocated to the project. You will ensure good financial management of the project both in terms of operations and financial reporting.
- Responsible to develop and implement a common capital allocation tracking in accordance with the corporate policy;
- Responsible to develop and implement a common process for the closure cost management for the Nunavut sites;
- Support operations finance activities, including all tasks related to the coordination and the analysis of the initial budget and revised budgets (forecasts);
- Support financial reporting activities, including the production of monthly statements for the project costs follow-up (Project Value Realization) and the explanation for variances;
- Ensure accuracy of project costs by working in close collaboration with the Project Team, the division Management and the Finance Service;
- Coordinate budgets and revise budgets to ensure accuracy of information;
- Consolidate the short-term or long-term financial forecasts and participate in the analysis, optimization and revision of activities in collaboration with the Project Team and the Finance department;
- Define, understand and follow performance indicators with the Project Team in order to be opportunistic and proactive with the management of the project;
- Track and estimate project cash flow;
- Provide input and support in the preparation of monthly and quarterly reports;
- Follow the unbudgeted expenditures in accordance with the corporate policy and manage the communication and approval related to it;
- Support the finance and site management team by being the capital allocation template champion for the Nunavut operation;
- Oversee the project to ensure compliance with Agnico Eagle’s financial processes (internal controls, policies and procedures, accounting standards);
- Closing and reporting of the project books each month with accuracy and as scheduled.
What You Need To Succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or mining engineering with a MBA or CFA. CPA designation is an asset;
- 5-10 years in financial/accounting field;
- Good knowledge of accounting principles is considered an asset;
- Experience in project and/or change management is an asset;
- Experience working in a multicultural environment;
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel;
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines;
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality;
- Capacity to set and attain targets, achieve results, and make informed decisions;
- Strong sense of organization, team spirit, leadership and autonomy;
- Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with various stakeholders
- Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written).
Note that the official working language of our Nunavut operations is English.
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. A combination of tele-working with presence at our offices in either Val-d’Or, Rouyn-Noranda or Mirabel, QC. Occasional visits to site may also be required.
