About the role
The Data & Performance Lead is a key position within Evolution, responsible for establishing and leading the organisation’s technical data intelligence function. This role focuses on developing and implementing a comprehensive data strategy to support the Technical Group and Operations, leveraging data analytics and reporting to optimise performance, improve efficiency, and enhance planning reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Team Development: Build and lead a high-performing data team, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
- Data Strategy & Governance: Develop and implement a robust data governance framework in partnership with the PMO and IT teams to ensure data quality, infrastructure, and accessibility.
- Analytics & Insights: Use data analytics, AI, and real-time dashboards to provide actionable insights that drive improvements in geology, geotechnical, mining, asset management, and processing.
- Operational Optimisation: Identify and implement data-driven opportunities to enhance efficiency, streamline processes, and reduce costs.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with business units and key stakeholders to align data initiatives with organisational goals.
- Innovation & Capability Building: Drive the adoption of advanced data analytics technologies, develop internal data literacy, and ensure best practices are followed.
This role is pivotal in ensuring Evolution’s operations meet or exceed budgets and strategic plans by harnessing the power of data to make more informed, resilient, and future-ready decisions.
About you
You are a highly skilled and experienced data and performance leader, bringing over a decade of expertise in the mining industry with a strong background in data analytics, performance management, and operational optimisation. With a tertiary qualification in business/data analytics, data science, or data engineering, you have developed a deep understanding of big data processing, data visualisation, and advanced analytics techniques. Additionally, your expertise is further strengthened by postgraduate or industry-led qualifications in engineering, business, or statistics. Throughout your career, you have successfully led and mentored teams of data professionals, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture that drives meaningful business outcomes. Your ability to develop and implement comprehensive data strategies has played a crucial role in aligning data initiatives with organisational goals, ensuring that operations are optimised, insights are actionable, and decision-making is data-driven.
With extensive experience in mining processes and technologies, you possess a strong analytical mindset and problem-solving capabilities, allowing you to translate complex data into valuable insights that support operational efficiency and cost reduction. Your expertise extends to project management, where you have successfully overseen multiple data-driven initiatives, ensuring their timely and effective delivery. Known for your exceptional communication and leadership abilities, you effectively convey technical insights to stakeholders at all levels, influencing decision-making and fostering cross-functional collaboration. With a strong foundation in data governance principles, you ensure that data quality, security, and compliance are maintained across all initiatives. Highly motivated and proactive, you are deeply committed to workplace safety and operational excellence while continuously seeking innovative solutions that drive efficiency, growth, and business success.
