The Greenstone Mine commenced production in May 2024 and will be one of Canada's largest open-pit gold mines, with annual production expected to average nearly 400,000 ounces of gold per year for an initial 14-year mine life with additional potential from a large underground deposit. Greenstone Gold Mines LP is owned by Equinox Gold Corp, a Vancouver-based mining company with seven other operating mines in the United States, Mexico and Brazil.
Greenstone Mine is seeking a Mine Dewatering Coordinator to join our team. Reporting to the Mine Operations Superintendent, the Mine Dewatering Coordinator is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of dewatering within the mining and tailings area as well as provide support in other services departments. They will also be responsible for the planning of mine dewatering activities and the safe and efficient operation of pumping infrastructure.
Primary Responsibilities May Include
- Advocate company safety values and protocols through positive leadership.
- Ensuring crew compliance to legislation and operating standards.
- Collaboration with other supervisors, trainers, and department leaders to develop operating procedures and safe work instructions.
- Ensure all direct reports, contractors and sub-contractors have the necessary training to perform tasks.
- Conduct and document daily safety audits of pump infrastructure.
- Coordinate and oversee the installation of dewatering pumps and infrastructure, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
- Monitor and analyze pump performance and dewatering efficiency, adjusting system components as necessary to maintain effective water controls.
- Conduct regular inspections and oversee the maintenance of dewatering equipment.
- Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and operations team to optimize dewatering systems design and performance.
- Prepare and maintain records of dewatering activities including flow rates, pump runtimes and maintenance actions.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and environmental requirements related to mine water management.
- Manage all contractors and sub-contractors related to pumping & tailings piping on site.
- Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure proper stocking of all items related to pumping & piping onsite.
- Monitor & manage applicable costs and invoices related work area.
Skills And Competencies
- In-depth knowledge of Ontario legislation.

- Candidates must demonstrate good verbal and written communications skills.
- Intermediate knowledge of pumping and piping systems and techniques

Experience, Qualifications And Education
- A Bachelor of Science in hydrology or mechanical engineering is preferred.
- Previous dewatering experience in mining or the oil and gas sector will be an advantage
- Minimum 2 years of supervising experience
- Able to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions
