The Greenstone Mine commenced production in May 2024 and will be one of Canada's largest open-pit gold mines, with annual production expected to average nearly 400,000 ounces of gold per year for an initial 14-year mine life with additional potential from a large underground deposit. Greenstone Gold Mines LP is owned by Equinox Gold Corp, a Vancouver-based mining company with seven other operating mines in the United States, Mexico and Brazil.
Mill Maintenance Process Control Technician
Greenstone Mine is seeking a Mill Maintenance Process Control Technician to join our team. Reporting to the Mill Maintenance Superintendent, the successful candidate will ensure the safe, reliable, and effective operation and maintenance of Greenstone’s process control systems. They will assist in the development, designing and scheduling of the process control system activities at Greenstone Mine.
Primary Responsibilities May Include
- Troubleshoot and repair problems in PLC and HMI to minimize impact on operations.
- Maintain PLCs by effectively backing up programs and documenting any changes.
- Investigate malfunctioning/damaged control system hardware, identify problems and report findings to Maintenance Team.
- Interpret P&IDs, loop drawings, and electrical schematics.
- Consult and liaise with Maintenance, Metallurgy and Operations to set priorities on Process Control issues or improvements.
- Report Hazards, safety issues and deviations to procedures
- Provide required documentation of work performed.
- Align with work safety policies and safety regulations.
Skills And Competencies
- Self-motivated and safety conscious.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Strong demonstrated knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures
- Candidates must demonstrate good verbal and written communications skills.
- Ability to work independently as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with PLC and HMI troubleshooting and basic Configuration.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Willing to adapt and work in an inclusive work environment.
- Able to work outdoors and inclement weather conditions.
Experience, Qualifications And Education
- College Technician or Technology Diploma in Automation, Instrumentation, Electronics or Electrical.
- 5+ years of relevant professional work experience
