About The Role
We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Specialist Project Engineer – Electrical and Control Systems to join the Sustaining Capital Engineering Management Team.
Sustaining Capital delivers a diverse portfolio of projects for Rio Tinto Iron Ore to maintain the supply chain capacity. The Projects undertaken by Sustaining Capital include construction of haul roads, workshops, camps, fixed plant assets, rail and marine infrastructure.
Reporting to the Principal Project Engineering for Electrical and Control Systems, you will
- Collaborate with Project Leads in preparing Scope of Works for Engineering
- Ensure Engineering compliance of assets and design to applicable RTIO and Australian Standards
- Complete technical design reviews to manage risk of safety, compliance, cost, quality in project deliverables
- Use your expertise and experience to coach and upskill others
- Ensure cost and schedule compliance of Engineering activities within the project.
- Coordinate Technical Queries with consultants and internal stakeholders
- Support the Project Lead in project management tasks to ensure overall control of cost, schedule, scope, planning and stakeholder engagement
- Participate in safety leadership in the field, engaging in Critical Risk Management and ensuring HSEQ standards are being met at all times.
About You
To be successful in the role, you will have
- Tertiary qualifications in Electrical and/or Control Systems Engineering and at least 5 years industry experience
- Demonstrated technical knowledge and experience in engineering design, specifically in HV / LV electrical systems and fixed plant mining and processing assets
- Demonstrated experience in Project Engineering in the mining and resources industry
- The ability to work collaboratively across a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
- Specialist level knowledge of Australian Standards in the areas of Electrical and Safety. Previous experience with Rio Tinto Iron Ore standards is advantageous.
- A demonstrated commitment to safety
- A current and valid manual ‘C Class’ driver's license
