Job description:
Job Summary
The purpose of this role is to provide support in all aspects related to drilling operations for both surface and underground mining areas within the KMP mine lease. This position will report directly to the Senior Coordinator, Drilling & Blasting and work closely with the Production team to ensure timely delivery of blast holes for production activities.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and track drill rigs to optimize drilling performance
- Schedule and coordinate drilling programs
- Monitor drilling parameters such as penetration rate, bit wear, mud pressure, etc.
- Assist in the maintenance of drill rigs and associated equipment
- Manage subcontractors during drilling campaigns
- Provide regular reports on drilling progress and issues
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth execution of drilling
- Conduct safety meetings before starting any drilling team
Qualifications:
- Full Grade 12 Certificate
- Diploma or Degree in Mining Engineering
- Minimum 10 years’ experience working in drilling and blasting environment, preferably in open pit mining
- Knowledge of drilling techniques and methods used in open pit mining
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to communicate effectively in English language, both written and verbal
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management abilities
