Purpose
Establish & maintain server & desktop infrastructure to ensure the access of production-critical systems & non-critical applications, troubleshoot issues that appear at the server & assist the support engineer’s in desktop levels, If required. Providing support for system design, implementation, maintenance, management, system compliance, proof of concept (testing), troubleshooting of IT system infrastructure, they oversee & resolve problems of the application server, server cluster network devices, storage, & client devices, support IT systems of all end-user’s on daily operations by monitoring, response to system outage, preventive maintenance, server security (access management), data integrity, assessment of overall performance & conducting necessary upgrades or system migration for improvement. Responsible for providing support to on-prem and cloud infrastructure & management of server critical spares. The Server Engineer collaborates, escalate & engage w/ IT Team on Site, EMEA IT Team & Global teams to identify, research, system improvement & resolve infrastructure technical challenges to support the business requirements.
Provide L1/2 Server Support in conjunction with the defined RASCI roles and responsibilities to support business and the region
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinates the site implementation of on-prem and cloud server infrastructure
- Supports the IT Service Management processes by analyzing and responding to incidents, access, and service requests, listening, and asking questions from customers to determine technical support levels, priority levels, and escalation levels
- Leads IT Support engineering team
- Partners with key stakeholders to create a leading-edge, well-defined secure solution for the cloud
- Provides support for Microsoft IIS, DFS, Print, AD, DHCP, DNS, Azure, Office 365, group policy, maintenance & Site critical systems.
- Support monitoring, maintenance and life cycle management of Infrastructure, Compute, and Storage.
- Design, configure, deploy, and maintain virtualization environments & some legacy systems.
- Provide support and maintenance of backup and recovery systems
- Develop and implement disaster recovery processes for the on-prem and cloud infrastructure
- Coordinates with region and group teams to implement configuration management including OS template, Windows workstation image building & patching, server patching, and SCCM/Intune setup
- Supports anti-virus protection – including endpoint distribution, remediation reporting & resolutions.
- Implements and manages monitoring and alerting of Windows & Linux servers
- Supports and manages database (On-Prem and Azure) monitoring, upgrade, development, etc.
- Perform as project manager, monitoring, organizing, and managing desktop and server infrastructure initiatives
- Supports and manages IT General Controls (ITGC)
- Coordinates w/ IT Site, EMEA IT Team & Global Teams to develop and maintain server and desktop computing standards.
- Develops and implements IT Service Delivery policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines following IT Service Management best practices
- Develops and manages the IT knowledge base
- Manages outside vendors and contractors
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, information technology, information systems etc.
Masters will be an added Advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 7 years of related experience in Desktop and Server engineering
- Proven experience as a senior server engineer or similar role
- Strong, demonstrated infrastructure project management experience
- Relevant IT certifications i.e. MCSE, HP Data Center etc.
- Experience with configuring and managing Windows Servers on prem and in the cloud
- Strong knowledge of enterprise applications, tools, and operating systems, including Windows, Exchange, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, and Group Policy objects, remote management tools, MS Office, MDM tools, IT ticketing system, cloud systems, file sync, and share tools, etc., required.
- Experience with virtualization (e.g., VMware, Virtual Box, Hyper – V)
- Significant experience in computer / IT customer support – desktop, mobile, tablets application, IAM. etc.
- Network experience (e.g., TCP/IP)
- Expertise with standard ITIL processes, including Change, Incident, Request fulfillment and Release management
- Member of ICTAZ or EIZ
