On the social news site Reddit, a user posted the question how many elements do we have no practical use for.
FVBLT responded that there is a distinction between the elements that are found in nature and the ones that are created in the lab.
. . . because we are still creating new elements with no practical uses, and finding practical uses for elements that previously didn’t have any. Within the standard 92 elements found in nature, most have at least some practical use, the most useless probably being Thulium, which is usually the butt of jokes on the subject, but still has some actual applications (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thulium#Applications).

If thulium still has actual applications, then it still has value, as do the standard 92 elements found in nature.
