Ivanhoe’s Kipushi zinc mine in the DRC officially reopens
The restart marked exactly a century since the mine first went into production.
Vancouver-based Western Potash Corp. (TSX: WPX) announced Wednesday its Milestone project in Saskatchewan received environmental approval from the province.
As a result of the approval, the company can move ahead with financing and construction of the solution potash mine. It plans to begin building the facility mid year.
Milestone’s ore body is expected to produce 2.8 million tonnes per year for more than 40 years. The $2.8 billion project will be operational in 2016.
Western Potash also signed an agreement with the City of Regina to use treated effluent from the urban centre to supply the mine.
