The government of Western Australia (WA) is supporting strongly the development of gas reserves using the fracking technique in a bid boost economic activity.
Developing shale gas could unlock billions for the WA economy, helping to create a wave of long term jobs, according to WA’s Mining and Petroleum Minister Bill Marmion.
Marmion is trying to allay legitimate concerns about potential environmental damage as a result of fracking, especially the pollution of water supplies.
“I strongly believe we can achieve this without compromising the environment or safety.”
Marmion also called on certain environmentalists to come clean with the reasons for their opposition:
“They need to be honest and up-front about their real objective, it is not about fracking…it is to prevent natural gas becoming a major fuel source for the generation of energy as opposed to renewable energy.”

Concerned father.
Not good. Other country’s who have used this technic have stopped because of the unpredictability that occurs after. It’s well an good saying “I strongly believe”. We’ll I and the majority strongly believe that it will compromise the environment, it will compromise the gas body, it will compromise my children’s children. Let’s learn from other country’s mistakes and lets not be a statistic along with the rest of the failures. I guess the real difference is the WA governments pockets have been made a little fatter.
Cha- ching.
