Unions reject BHP Billiton Limited’s latest coking coal mine labor agreement

A spokesman representing unions engaged in an ongoing labor dispute with BHP Billiton Limited, at its coking coal mines in northeastern Australia, indicated today that the latest workplace agreement offered by the company has been rejected.

Despite their decision to reject the new workplace pact, which governs six mines owned by the BHP-Mitsubishi Alliance, union delegates indicated that they still intend to meet their respective members to discuss the proposal before the end of September.

The unions are reportedly seeking additional changes to the proposed labor agreement prior to submitting it to a vote.
