Two Fasken Martineau partners appointed to chair the boards of directors of Minalliance and the Quebec Mineral Exploration Association

Montréal (Canada) – Fasken Martineau, a leading international business law and litigation firm, is pleased to announce that Jean M. Gagné and Frank Mariage have been appointed chairs of the boards of directors of Minalliance and the Quebec Mineral Exploration Association (QMEA), respectively. Both are partners of the firm’s Global Mining Group and are repeatedly recognized as being among the best mining lawyers by Lexpert and Best Lawyers.

“My heartfelt congratulations to Jean M. and Frank on these appointments, which reflect not only their role as leaders in the mining sector, but also their involvement in the Québec mining industry, of which we are truly proud,” said Éric Bédard, the firm’s Managing Partner for the Québec region. “Their role as chairs of the board of directors within these widely recognized and influential organizations confirms Fasken Martineau’s position as a top-tier player in the mining industry and how important this industry is to the firm.”

Created in October 2010, Minalliance brings together Québec and Canadian mining exploration and production companies, suppliers of goods and services, industry associations and other partners. Its mission is to enter into dialogue with the public in order to further increase the transparency of the mining industry and demonstrate its contribution to the sustainable development of Québec.

The QMEA was created in 1975 to bolster mineral exploration in the province and support the development of Québec’s mining companies. Today, it includes over 2400 individual members (prospectors, geologists, geophysicists, brokers, tax specialists and others) and over 325 corporate members (junior and major exploration companies, engineering consultant firms specializing in geology and geophysics, drilling companies, etc.).
