TNT Awarded Contract for New Super Portable System and 3 Miles of Overland Conveyors for Morenci Mine-For-Leach

TNT has secured a contract for the design, supply and erection of three miles of overland conveyors and a Super PortableTM stacking system for the Southwest Leach Pad at Freeport-McMoRan’s Morenci Operations in southeast Arizona, USA. The scope includes four new 54″ overland conveyors S26, S27, S28 and S29 with lengths of 694’, 3,619’, 4,581’ and 6,877’, respectively. Conveyor S28 includes a horizontal curve of 6,000 ft radius and return belt turnover system. With more than 5,000 HP installed power, these conveyors will be powered via three new electrical rooms and distribution gear designed, supplied and installed by TNT.

Super PortablesTM operating on the South Stargo Pad at Morenci in 2014. These will be upgraded and added to the new mobile stacking system for the Southwest Leach Pad.

The longest of these overland conveyors will feed (via a new mobile tripper) a new mobile stacking system featuring TNT’s patented Super PortableTM technology. This technology allows fully independent movement of each piece of mobile conveying equipment on the stacking pad. Initially the system will comprise nine new conveyors: five 72” x 250’ Ramp Portables, a 130’ long Portable Transfer Conveyor, a 110’ long Horizontal Feed Conveyor, 285’ long Horizontal Conveyor, and 180’ / 210’ long Radial Stacker with 30’ telescoping stinger. Immediately after start-up on the new pad, TNT will upgrade four Super PortablesTM supplied between 2007 and 2014 by TNT for the South Stargo Pad, and add these to the Southwest pad’s mobile stacking system.
