Adaro eyes $291 million from unit IPO to spin off coal arm
Adaro is spinning off the coal mining unit valued at $2.45 billion to focus on developing cleaner energy, with an aluminum smelter being built in Kalimantan.

With just under 1000 MW of installed capacity, according to the Energy and Mines Global Rankings, renewables for mines is now firmly established as a critical market segment for the global renewable energy industry. Industry experts predict continued growth for this sector as mines face increasing carbon exposure and energy cost pressures. As Sunil Kansal, Senior Manager, Deloitte, said recently, “More and more miners are considering renewables as a way to meet sustainability targets and decrease their carbon footprints.”
The Energy and Mines Renewables in Mining Awards will present awards to mining leaders in 13 categories on the evening of November 21st at the Hilton Toronto, co-located with the 4th annual renewables for mines conference, Energy and Mines World Congress November 21-22. Awards attendees will be senior mining, renewables, finance and government leaders.
