SGS is pleased to announce a fully funded expansion of our metallurgical testing facility in Cornwall, United Kingdom (SGS Minerals Services UK Limited).
The increased space and additional equipment will allow us to further service the growing needs of the minerals exploration industry in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. The expansion will be completed in 2013 and the addition of over 3500 ft2 will significantly increase laboratory, testing and warehouse space.
SGS’ global approach is focused on phasing work programmes to maximise metallurgical performance whilst minimising technical risk. The addition of lab space will increase our capability to undertake large scale projects at pre-feasibility and feasibility stages.
Located at the historic Wheal Jane tin mine site, SGS is able to leverage considerable experience and expertise in a wide range of physical and hydrometallurgical processing. We offer a broad range of solutions from conceptual scoping to feasibility testing and in-plant metallurgical support.
The expansion will allow us to provide a full range of metallurgical testing services including:
• Complete SPI and SPI Crusher Index testing capabilities with the addition of large and small crushers.
• Extensive suite of crushing and grinding characterisation tests with the addition of Bond Rod Work Index and Abrasion Work Index testing mills.
• Expanded flotation capacity with new flotation cells and bench space.
• Full magnetic characterisation capability to serve the developing European iron ore market, including a Magnetic Disc Separator, Satmagan and Davis Tube Tester.
• Bulk sample preparation laboratory able to process tonnage samples.
This expansion at Cornwall complements our global network of 12 metallurgical testing facilities and further cements SGS’ position as the market leader and trusted source for bankable expertise in metallurgical testing around the world. SGS offers a wide range of services to the minerals sector including geochemical analysis, resource calculation, mineralogy, metallurgy, advanced systems, water treatment and trade services.
