AUSTRALIAN dust suppression and soil stabilisation company Reynolds Soil Technologies (RST) is continuing to revolutionise its well-established leading-edge solutions, following the launch of its latest dust suppression product range for the international mining industry.
Leaders in dust control solutions for ‘pit to port’ operations, RST has been treating haul road and mine site dust emissions on a global scale for close to three decades – continually developing the latest technology and products for use by major mining houses.
RST’s latest technological innovation, being its advanced micro polymer technology, has allowed the company’s research and development division to design premium solutions for all types of mining where bulk dust is generated as a result of heavy vehicle operation and haulage.
Using a combination of different technologies, RST has now launched its new and highly competitive Avenger range – which features ultra-concentrated, eco-friendly and fast-acting dust control solutions able to treat challenging material types found in all forms of mining operations.
The Avenger range includes three individually-tailored liquid polymer products, purpose-built for dust management applications in the open-cut coal (Avenger Coal), underground (Avenger Underground) and hard rock (Avenger Hard Rock) mining industries.
Though diverse in application and treatment areas, each solution comprises ground-breaking features including a 90% reduction in all chemical requirements.
While the new super-concentrated technology will see mines use significantly less product, RST’s Operations and Technical Director David Handel said the solution itself had the potential to be up to 10 times stronger than typical dust suppressants on the market.
Additionally, the product will deliver instant results, eliminating dust lift off and improving material quality in just one application.
“The innovative micro polymer technology used in our new Avenger range is a huge advancement for the industry, and will see companies require considerably less product than they currently use to manage excessive dust levels,” Mr Handel said.
“Through our continued research and development programs, we have successfully revolutionised our standard dust suppressant products to create the latest in biodegradable chemical dust solution technology for mining and haulage operations.
“As every mine site generates different volumes of dust and requires individual measures for ground control, we further diversified and tailored the technology for treatment applications specific to various operations including open-cut coal, hard rock and underground mining.
“Though purpose-designed to effectively adhere to the different minerals and operational processes, each of the Avenger solutions is very intricate in structure, yet extremely powerful – with its core application being to effectively suppress hazardous dust emissions caused by extractive and haulage operations.
“Through extensive trialing with major mine sites throughout Australia and overseas, we have found that each treatment has the potential to deliver far greater results than alternate products currently on the market.”
Mr Handel said the new range meant mine sites no longer require large quantities of product to achieve maximum results, ensuring a cost-effective outlay with minimal logistical, freight, storage and handling costs.
“Across all applications, the Avenger solution uses extremely low dosage rates – being diluted at ultra-low concentrations into the sites existing water carts,” Mr Handel said.
Additional benefits of the Avenger technology include improved road roll resistance and water cart utilisation, as well as a significant reduction in water usage, grading and maintenance requirements.
Mr Handel said they also recommend sites use Avenger’s pre-treatment product, Boost X, which has been designed to ‘super boost’ the initial performance of the product – by wetting out any powdery or loose material and thereby, accelerating the penetration of Avenger into the road’s surface.
The development of RST’s latest technology follows over 20 years of success in haul road dust management, with its Haul Road Management System (HRMS) at the company’s forefront.
RST has more than 26 years’ experience specialising in total dust management, soil stabilisation and erosion, water for mine sites, civil projects, ports and land sites in Australia and overseas.
The company’s head office is based at Burleigh Heads, Queensland with an additional office in Carlisle, Western Australia. RST’s international operations extend to regions including South and North America, Africa, Asia, Oceania, and Europe.
