Leading provider of software solutions and services to the exploration and mining sector, MICROMINE, is pleased to announce that it will be hosting a short course at the 2014 PDAC Convention, ‘Accessing New Data Analysis Techniques to Maximise Project Value’, Sunday 2 March, 8.30am – 5.00pm.
The course will be delivered by Mohan Srivastava, Micromine Consulting Services’ (MCS) Principal Consultant, and one of the world’s pre-eminent authorities on resource estimation and geostatistics.
Srivastava comments “The course will provide insights into analytical approaches that offer the promise of maximising value from geological, exploration and mining data. Even though these methods are increasingly being mentioned, they are usually understood only at the level of ‘buzzwords’. The practical details are generally not well explained”.
This one-day workshop will demystify the following methods, providing a clear and practical introduction to how they work, and their strengths and weaknesses:
Srivastava adds, “Participants will explore each idea through case studies and group discussions relating to real-world examples and current practices. The course will benefit all geologists and engineers involved with advanced exploration and resource estimation studies, providing an introduction to new methods for learning the right lessons from data acquired during exploration and production”.
“In addition to showcasing the strengths of each method, the course will also explain their weaknesses and discuss why they are sometimes not well suited for certain types of studies”.
Srivastava is well positioned to facilitate the course and help attendees increase their industry knowledge. In addition to his extensive understanding of geostatistics, Srivastava has experience with resource and reserve estimation for a range of minerals projects, from energy fuels to base metals to precious metals. He’s worked for junior exploration companies and senior producers; advises Boards of Directors and has served as an expert witness. He is also respected as an advisor to governments and to standards-development organisations.
Micromine Consulting Services is fortunate to benefit from the expertise of Srivastava, who mentors and guides the work of MCS consultants, and provides high-end expertise to clients utilising MCS’ outstanding services.
With degrees from Stanford and MIT, and author of Applied Geostatistics, a seminal text for geostatistics and resource estimation, Srivastava delivers significant results to clients’ business’.
MCS provides exploration and mining consulting services to clients in China, Mongolia, Indonesia, Europe, Russia, Ukraine, Central Asia, Africa, North America and South America. MCS has undertaken numerous independent mineral resource and reserve estimates, site validation, Quality Control and pit optimization exercises for all commodities, from scoping to feasibility stage. The group has also conducted exploration program management and mine management projects.
In addition to hosting the PDAC short course, MICROMINE will be showcasing its software solutions and services at the PDAC Convention (Booth 603), including Micromine 2014, the latest version of the company’s namesake exploration and mine design solution due for release in the middle of the year. Micromine 2014 contains many new and enhanced exploration and mining features designed to increase productivity and introduce cost efficiencies.
