Queensland Government announces ongoing funding for Energy Mines and Money

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk today announced that the Queensland Government will continue to partner with Energy Mines and Money in 2019 to promote resource investment opportunities across the State.

The 2nd Energy Mines and Money will take place on 11-13 June at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Premier Palaszczuk said the partnership was part of the Labor Government’s approach to supporting investment growth in Queensland’s energy and mining sectors.

“Our Government is proud to support our energy and mining industries, which employ thousands of Queenslanders, particularly in regional areas, while creating export revenue and wealth for all Australians,” Ms Palaszczuk said.

“Our support for Energy Mines and Money complements our other initiatives including our land release program, pre-competitive geoscience initiatives and financial incentives for resource development.

“Through Energy Mines and Money we have the opportunity to showcase our strong natural resource base and industry leading capability to a global audience.

“More than $718B of investment funds descended on Brisbane for the inaugural Energy Mines and Money, positioning our State as a leader in resource development and an attractive investment destination.”

Energy Mines and Money General Manager, Anita Richards, said she anticipated the conference is expected to grow in 2019.

“We expect to build on the success of 2018. We believe 2019 will attract 700 participants, attract an $1 trillion investment pool and showcase 50+ mining companies,” said Ms Richards.

“The 2019 event will showcase the Queensland’s and Australia’s strategic mineral, coal, oil and gas opportunities, and match projects with global investment. The program will include investment tours of Queensland’s coal, LNG and key mineral ports.

“International delegates will be invited to participate in a social extension program and site visit will also be run as part of the event,” she continued.

The Premier acknowledged the efforts of Queensland’s Resources Investment Commissioner, Todd Harrington, who showed great leadership in raising the profile of Queensland resources to the investment community globally.

“Through Todd’s leadership, the resources industry will gain considerable value from this investment forum as we continue to encourage growth,” she said.

“The forum will also benefit the broader community through flow-on benefits such as employment, infrastructure and building capacity through training and skills development.”

Energy Mines and Money has confirmed our continued partnership with the Queensland Government and Trade Investment Queensland as Principal Partners in 2019.
