In 1938 this Cat® D4 was purchased by Mr. Martin Paalberg in Estonia. He and his brother ran a trailer manufacturing company where they used the D4 until 1940. It was then that they hid the tractor underground due to political unrest.
More than 50 years later in 1991, Mr. Paalberg regained possession of the land where he had buried the D4. He dug the machine out of the ground and found it in to be good condition. At more than 80 years old, Mr.Paalberg was happy to have his D4 above ground and in working order, but felt he was too old to operate the tractor himself. So he contacted Cat dealer, Wihuri Estonia, to see if they would be interested in acquiring this piece of history.
Today, the D4 is a unique and often admired showpiece at exhibitions, open houses and customer days organized by Wihuri Estonia.
