Melbourne: Orica (ASX: ORI) CEO Alberto Calderon today announced that Nick Bowen, Group Executive Strategic Marketing and Technology, has decided to leave the organisation, effective 18 December 2015.
Mr Bowen joined Orica in November 2013 as Executive Global Head, Mining Services, following a long career as a Managing Director of listed mining services and construction companies. During his time at Orica, Nick led regional Mining Services teams in the strengthening of Orica’s forward contract profile and the development of advanced blasting services.
Mr Calderon said: “Nick has made a substantial contribution to the leadership of Orica. Within a challenging environment for the broader mining sector, Nick has helped us improve our relationship with our customers and has been instrumental in renewing customer contracts and improving our contract profile. I wish him all the best for the future.”
Mr Bowen said the time was right for him to pursue new opportunities: “Orica is a great company with exceptional people who are deeply committed to our customers. I am particularly proud of our achievements with contract renewals, the increase in our advanced blasting services, and our safety performance. However, it is the right time for me to pursue other opportunities and I look forward to the next stage in my career.”
Orica Vice President Technology Analytics and Automation, Mr Jez Smith, will be Acting Group Executive Strategic Marketing and Technology. Mr Smith has held a number of senior roles in Orica during his 35 years with the company, including serving as Global Head of Research and Development and General Manager of Marketing and Technology.
