MRS VP Engineering Wisam Farjow recently completed his PhD. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, from Ryerson University in Toronto. He defended his thesis on Cross Layer Optimization for Integrated Networks in Underground Mines with great success and was nominated for Canada’s Governor General’s Gold Medal (GGGM). Dr. Farjow’s education and research lead him down many paths bringing to light novel theories to advance the operation of the communication systems in the underground mines.
“Dr. Farjow’s steady rise through the ranks at MRS while arduously continuing his education is a testament to the goals one can achieve through dedication and perseverance. We celebrate this great achievement with Wisam and his family.” said Ken Morrell, President, MRS.
“I am looking forward to employing this knowledge to advance the level of technologies offered to the mining industry and to support the vision of MRS in leading the world for advanced and reliable industry solutions.” said Dr. Farjow.
Wisam oversees all MRS engineering activities throughout the world. Wisam has extensive experience in the design and management of complex engineering systems in the fields of underground mines and tunnel communication and safety systems. He is a member of the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE), Project Management Institute (PMI), and is a Registered Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario, Canada (PEO).
With over 400 installations at mining and tunnelling sites in over 50 countries, MRS is recognized worldwide as the leading provider of ICT (information and communications technology) solutions that enhance productivity, profitability and safety.MRS
