MICROMINE’s Academic Licensing Scheme has been introduced in over 115 academic institutions world-wide and now expands to Eskisehir Osmangazi University (ESOGU), Turkey and German University of Technology (GUtech), Oman. The academic partnerships aim to create an environment for learning and provide students with valuable on the job skills. MICROMINE’s General Manager, Claire Tuder said “by introducing Micromine, our exploration and mine design solution, into their technical mining courses, students receive a ‘real time’ understanding of geological modelling, mine design and mine planning.”
Gani Esiyok (Mining Engineer MSc) MICROMINE’s agent in Turkey orchestrated the most recent partnership with Eskisehir Osmangazi University (ESOGU)The focus of the ESOGU Engineering and Architecture faculty is to ensure its students and graduates receive the necessary training to become highly skilled engineers and architects. Furthermore, the faculty offers additional occupational laboratories, classes, technical and social elective courses.
Esiyok worked closely with the Engineering and Architecture Faculty Associate Professor Mehmet, to implement Micromine, set up the database, load drill hole data, configure drill holes with legend and grade graphs. Micromine is now installed on 10 computers ready for course commencement in November 2016. “The department is looking to double the number of computers next year, which is exciting” added Gani Esiyok.
PD Dr. Wilfried Bauer, Associate Professor of the Department of Applied Geosciences at German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech) said “we’ve now completed the first student course in Micromine and our students and myself are finding it very enjoyable. The software is intuitive and easy to use.”
Dr. Bauer visited MICROMINE’s London office earlier this year and completed extensive Micromine training which he’s now passing on to the students of GUTech’s Bachelor of Science in Applied Geosciences. MICROMINE’s academic offering provides training for academic staff, training materials and specialist staff to the students.
Ms Tuder added “Micromine’s user-friendly interface and intuitive nature makes it the perfect solution for a learning environment. The solution’s powerful 3D visualisation capabilities make it a very interesting tool for students.”
Universities such as Eskisehir Osmangazi University and German University of Technology provide rigorous education with high standards, placing strong emphasis on the future employability of their graduates. For this reason, MICROMINE’s Academic Licensing Scheme is a valuable tool in core curriculum.
