MONTREAL — September 19, 2016 — At PACK EXPO 2016, (Chicago, November 6-9, booth E-7747), Matrox® Imaging will be on hand to demonstrate the new Matrox Iris GTR smart camera, as well as the Matrox 4Sight GPm vision controller, both running vision projects created using a new version of the Matrox Design Assistant software to inspect container integrity and marking. The latter inspection task includes reading packaging information printed as dot-matrix text using the new SureDotOCR™ technology, now integrated into Matrox Design Assistant.
Matrox Design Assistant is the first hardware-independent integrated development environment (IDE) that lets users create an application flowchart and HMI and take machine vision projects from concept to completion in record time, without the need for conventional programming.
The Matrox 4Sight GPm vision controller features a unique combination of embedded PC technology, compact size, and ruggedness making it an ideal solution for cost-sensitive image analysis and machine vision applications.
Matrox Iris GTR is an extremely rugged, IP67-rated camera measuring just 75mm x 75mm x 54mm allowing it to fit into tight and dirty spaces. It uses CMOS image sensors with high readout rates and an Intel® Celeron® dual-core embedded processor, allowing it to inspect on faster moving lines or perform more inspections in an allotted time.
Also on display will be the Matrox SureDotOCR, a new vision tool, which can reliably read information applied by industrial inkjet printers despite text distortion and orientation as well as uneven backgrounds and illumination.
At the Mettler-Toledo CI-Vision booth (S-1700), their V2210 CIVCore software, integrated with SureDotOCR, will be used to perform process inspection on their V2630 Flex Vision System. The CIVCore software is an intuitive vision inspection software solution designed to automate vision inspection needs. CIVCore allows users to easily manage product changeovers, configure new inspections and enable advanced reporting statistics to monitor operational efficiency.
“Matrox SureDotOCR is a natural extension of the CIVCore software. Inkjet printing is critical in the packaging industry and is used for everything from best by dates to lot/batch number tracking, and now, with this tool, manufacturers can accurately inspect packages to ensure the highest-quality products are sent to market.” stated Rick Koval, software development manager at Mettler-Toledo CI-Vision. “We are excited to be part of the innovations taking place in inkjet print inspection through the use of the SureDotOCR tool.”
