LDD, an Acteon company, has been contracted by McConnell Dowell to supply specialist pile-top drilling equipment and personnel for the installation of 1050- and 1200-mm diameter piles at the new Roy Hill iron ore export facility at Port Hedland, Western Australia. The piles will be installed using the Drive Drill Drive technique.
The project, which is scheduled to run for seven months, will utilise LDD’s industry-leading technology during the construction of the iron ore marine export facilities for the new Roy Hill project. McConnell Dowell awarded the contract to LDD on the strength of LDD’s performance on previous projects in the region, its ongoing relationship and because of LDD’s position as a leader in Drive Drill Drive techniques.
“This contract builds on our established business relationships in Western Australia,” said James Tuckwell, general manager, LDD Australia Pty Ltd. “It means that LDD Australia will have worked on all the major iron ore export facilities in Port Hedland for the past four years. What is more, this will be the third pile-top drilling equipment project we have secured in Australia this year.”
Tuckwell continued, “We are very enthusiastic about working with McConnell Dowell, a key client in the region; and continuing to develop our existing relationship. We look forward to harnessing our success on future projects across Australia.”
