will develop Alaska-specific mining opportunities, while expanding the firm’s regional and North American wide capabilities. He is based in the Fairbanks office.

DiMarchi joins a team of more than 600 Stantec mining experts that has completed work in more than 20 countries.

“Jack has a wealth of Alaska mining experience,” said Tim Vig, PE, Stantec senior principal. “Combining his personal experience with the vast Stantec services creates a unique growth opportunity in Alaska, which is resource rich. DiMarchi joins Stantec after serving as the large mine project manager for the Alaska Department of Natural Resources where he managed the environmental permitting process for Alaska’s hard rock mines. He coordinated and contributed to the technical review and approval process of mine plans of operation, reclamation and closure plans, waste management plans, environmental audits, and mine financial assurances. He coordinated permitting activities for the Red Dog, Pogo, Fort Knox mines and several advanced exploration projects for the state. Earlier in his career, he was integral to the team that defined the Pogo gold deposit and then participated in the underground development, construction and commissioning of the mine; and he was the first chief mine geologist.

DiMarchi is a member of the American Exploration and Mining Association, the Alaska Miners Association, the American Institute of Professional Geologists, and the Association for Mineral Exploration in British Columbia. In recent years, DiMarchi was appointed by the governor to serve two terms as the mining industry representative on the Alaska State Board of Forestry. He is a Colorado State University graduate.
