iSeekplant announces the launch of Australia’s first Heavy Machinery Hire Mobile Application for Mining and Civil Construction

The hugely successful plant and machinery hire industry aggregator, iSeekplant.com.au, has released Australia’s first heavy machinery hire mobile application, allowing the user to hire equipment for mining, civil, construction and earthworks projects directly from their iPhone or iPad. It’s the first of its kind in Australia, and a massive improvement for the industries in project resourcing, innovation and efficiency.

The application draws its records from the thousands of items of plant for hire on iSeekplant.com.au, which have been listed by hundreds of plant hire companies from all over Australia. With

simplified usability, it’s been designed to help Project Managers, Engineers and Supervisors find machinery for urgent requirements onsite.

Finding hire machines quickly and easily, has both time and cost implications for projects. Project managers are always keen to minimize down-time, extension costs and penalties. Major scope changes to contracts can often occur suddenly, with supervisors and managers needing to source new machines or expand capacity quickly. iSeekplant saw the opportunity to produce a mobile application that answers this problem, and deliver thousands of machines for hire, at the touch of a button and from anywhere in the country.

The other reason why a mobile application is so pertinent to civil, construction and mining industry resourcing, is that large mining and civil projects are often being undertaken in areas without phone, broadband or electrical infrastructure. Project Managers have become accustomed to running site offices from iPhones in remote locations, tethering computers to 3G networks from their phones. Now, they able source machinery and equipment via an easy-to-use mobile application interface, courtesy of iSeekplant.

“We wanted to create the industry’s first mobile application, designed specifically for urgent plant requirements and for searching for plant on-the-go, because we know how mobile and time poor our Project Manager audience is. We also know how expensive machine down-time can be for projects. Our app is simple to use, returns necessary results quickly and easily, and will become an essential resource for our Project Managers whilst onsite or travelling,” says CEO Matt Peters.

About iSeekplant’s Mobile Application Features

The application streamlines the detailed search functionality of the iSeekplant.com.au website, which allows users to find companies with the heavy machines they require based on specification, attachments, working hours and availability. Search functionality has been simplified and streamlined to the services that are most relevant for mobile usage.

Map and location functionality has been added to the mobile application, so that Project Mangers can seek urgent equipment from suppliers close to their current location. Users simply drop a pin, and search around their geographic location, for plant hire companies that can meet their specification and have the equipment they need to keep the project on-track.

About the Mobility of Mining, Civil and Construction Audience.

Given the increased prevalence of iPads used onsite at projects, and by travelling project managers, the Directors also felt it important to make the application available on both the iPhone and iPad platform. “25% of our monthly website customer traffic comes from smartphones, principally iPhones and iPads. Tablets are the future of computing for professionals who are mobile. They are so useful in the mining and civil industries, as a business and reference tool. These devices are running whole site offices in multi-million dollar projects. We want to give Project Managers the tools they need to find machinery wherever they are, and deliver that information to them on the devices they are using. That is iPad and iPhone,” says Marketing Director Sally McPherson.

About the iSeekplant.com.au website.

A syndicate of Project Managers in the mining and civil industries, created iSeekplant.com.au as a tool to source heavy machinery and equipment for large projects, and launched it in October 2012. Prior to the launch of this website, plant and machinery was hired from business directories and via traditional, outmoded sourcing mediums. The Directors identified an opportunity to aggregate the plant hire industry online, enlisting companies to upload their plant and equipment to the database, as a way to promote their SME and sourcing new work.

iSeekplant.com.au breaks down the sourcing barriers in the industry, giving plant hire companies access to work on a national scale and offering ultimate professional convenience for sourcing plant across all supervisory, engineering and project management disciplines.

Plant hire and machinery suppliers pay iSeekplant an affordable subscription fee for the service. The service is free to use for the first six months. Plant hirers and users can search the site and contact members, via web and mobile, for free.

iSeekplant Pty Ltd employs 10 people spanning South East and North Queensland, with its Head Office in Peregian Beach.
