Graduate students’ deadline to apply for students in mining and energy program is November 16

Boulder, United States, October 29,2015/Free-Press-Release.com/ — ASD Inc., a PANalytical company, the global leader in high-performance NIR analytical instrumentation and material analysis solutions, today reminds graduate students conducting mining, geology, energy or geothermal research to submit their proposals for the Students in Mining TerraSpec Instrument Program by November 16.

Accepted proposals will be granted the temporary use of a TerraSpec 4 Hi-Res mineral spectrometer or a TerraSpec Halo mineral identifier to assist in research related to their mining, geology, energy or geothermal research applications.

In addition to these mineral spectrometers, selected recipients are also eligible to receive up to a total of USD 500 to cover publication charges (if the resulting paper is published in an approved publication) and/or travel assistance for presentation of an accepted abstract at a relevant scientific conference.

Submissions should be unique to the field and do not need to be of immediate practical application or have a guarantee of success. Priority will be given to proposals that extend the frontiers of mining exploration, mining production, energy or geothermal applications.

Graduate students pursuing a Master’s or Ph.D. within an accredited college or university program within the United States, or all other countries where Carnet documentation for shipments is accepted, are encouraged to apply.

The program was established by ASD to enhance innovation in the mining industry through advances in mineral measurement analysis, and encourages a creative research environment within the global mining educational community. Recipients will be announced in January 2016.
