Mexico’s proposed higher mining royalties could block nearly $7bn in investments
The Mexican government proposed raising mining royalties under the argument that metal prices have risen in recent years.
Gold production in the province of Irkutsk Russia, in January-November 2011 increased by 11.9% YoY to 18.506 metric tons, the local government said.
This is the highest historic level recorded by the region.
The most significant increase occurred at the Pervenets mine, owned by Polyus Gold. Production for the period grew by 3.5 times to 1.328 metric tons.
