Gekko Systems’ Graduate Program Kicks-off

2012. Since commencement a great deal has been undertaken including, lab test work, installations, commissioning and service visits (domestic and international).

The Gekko graduate program has been flexibly designed so that graduates can control their learning. This flexibility allows them to be accelerated through certain modules depending on their knowledge and experience. The program also recognises the importance of not only developing the graduates as process engineers but their development as professional leaders within the mining industry. Accordingly, a focus on soft skill development and training around inter-relationships has also been incorporated into the program.

As a global leader in its field, particularly in separation technologies and related flowsheet applications, Gekko offers direct involvement at all stages of the process, from mineralogy and test work, through to plant design. Gekko has the ability to provide the graduates with industry experience and an operational understanding of all facets of its organisation; including logistics, engineering, production, electrical, metallurgy and technical services.

Marcus Koot, a current participant of the graduate program says “Gekko uses a systematic approach in strategic management and it has been a great learning experience understanding these systems. The greatest benefit of the program has been the opportunity to utilise my knowledge and gain practical experience in the Gekko laboratories and on-site with clients.”

Gekko’s affiliation with Newcrest Mining, who is sponsoring two of the graduates, also provides the graduates with opportunities to utilise various Newcrest projects as a learning resource. It also exposes them to a variety of technical projects and builds on international relationships within the industry.
