Call for Papers for Comminution ‘14

The 9th International Comminution Symposium (Comminution ‘14), organised by MEI in consultation with Prof Malcolm Powell and Dr Aubrey Mainza, is on track to be the biggest event in the series. With 11 months still to go before the start of the event in Cape Town, half of the exhibition space has already sold out. Booths have been taken up by companies including Metso, Russell Mineral Equipment, Keromos, and Cenotec. There has also been a great deal of interest shown in sponsoring next year’s event (see below), with a total of 18 sponsors so far.

MEI’s Comminution conferences are established as the main events for profiling cutting edge research and innovation in all aspects of crushing, grinding and ultrafine grinding in the minerals industry. Industrially based research papers showing the benefits of basing practical application on scientific rigour, such as the industrial validation of models and control techniques, are strongly encouraged. Draft papers will be published as an unrefereed Proceedings on a USB memory stick, and selected papers will be published, after peer-review, in a special Comminution issue of Minerals Engineering journal.

Prof. Tim Napier-Munn, of the JKMRC/JKTech, will present the first keynote lecture “Is progress in energy-efficient comminution doomed?”. Alan Muir, Vice President Metallurgy at AngloGold Ashanti, South Africa, will present the second keynote lecture “The next stage of evolution in comminution”.

If you wish to present a paper at this international event, please see www.min-eng.com/comminution14/ for details or email Dr Barry Wills, [email protected]. Abstracts should be submitted by the end of October 2013.

Comminution ‘14 is sponsored by TOMS, Starkey & Associates, King’s Ceramics & Chemicals, Keramos, Polysius, FLSmidth, Magotteaux, CHEMCO Advance Material, Grintec Advanced Materials Technology, Industrie Bitossi, Eirich, Metso, Cenotec, Russell Mineral Equipment and Grinding Solutions.
