Brazil Minerals, Inc. (OTCQB: BMIX) (“BMIX”), a diamond and gold producer with resources and assets in Brazil, today announced results from a gemological analysis of approximately 300 carats of a recent rough diamond production lot from its Mineração Duas Barras Ltda. (“Duas Barras”) diamond and gold processing plant.
This analysis was done upon a request made by a high-end fine jewelry retailer and pre-approved diamond buyer, based in Milan, Italy.
The analysis for shapes and recovery and the expected color and clarity after cutting and polishing was carried out by a gemological analytical practice in Nova Lima, state of Minas Gerais.
The principal gemologist in charge of the analysis is certified by the Gemological Institute of America (“GIA”), and has over 28 years of experience in diamond evaluation and grading, having previously worked in the diamond trade in New York and Los Angeles.
The highest expected color in the sample presented by Duas Barras is “E”, which corresponds to the second highest category in the GIA grading scale. Diamonds receiving color grades ‘D”, “E”, and “F” are referred to as “colorless”.
The highest expected clarity in the sample is “VVS”, which corresponds to the second highest category in the GIA scale.
The first category is “IF”, short for “internally flawless”, and such gems are very rare.
The term “VVS” (very, very small) indicates in such scale that it is “extremely difficult to see inclusion under 10X magnification”.
The shapes seen in the sample were categorized into sawables, makeables, and flats, and included many well-formed octahedrons and dodecahedrons.
Marc Fogassa, Chairman and CEO of Brazil Minerals, stated, “We are very pleased with the results of the gemological analysis of our sample production. The quality of the Jequitinhonha River rough diamond is well known. Having gemological reports from our rough diamond production at Duas Barras further facilitates any business relationship with sophisticated buyers.”
