SALT LAKE CITY – March 17, 2015 – Boart Longyear’s (www.BoartLongyear.com) drilling services team in Argentina recently surpassed 3 million work hours without a lost-time injury (LTI), a safety record that dates back to 2009.
“This is a very significant accomplishment,” said Travis O’Briant, Territory Manager – Peru and Argentina. “Passing 3 million work hours without an LTI is a testament to all the hard work our teams do each day, and to their dedication to our core value of safety. This dedication starts at the top of our organization and carries down through each function and position.”
Boart Longyear’s “safety first” approach to drilling focuses on keeping people safe with zero injuries, zero illnesses and protecting the environment with zero environmental incidents.
The field team in Argentina, which is comprised of 100 percent Argentine employees, was expanded by more than 70 helpers and support personnel as Boart Longyear ramped up a large program in the Santa Cruz province in the second half of 2014.
New hires are required to go through the Boart Longyear New Hire Identification and Training program, which ensures they get the information and experience needed to work safely and successfully. The new employees are required to wear new hire identification so experienced employees can support, mentor and look out for them.
“Boart Longyear’s success is in large part a result of the commitment and training the supervisors, drillers and Environment, Health and Safety team provide to new team members,” O’Briant added.
“High altitudes and extreme weather can make Argentina a very challenging place to work. We have a great team in Argentina, and they remain focused and diligent as ever with regard to operating safely and delivering exceptional service to our valued customers. I’m very proud of their tremendous efforts.”
