Boart Longyear team marks two years LTI-free at Australia’s CMOC-owned Northparkes Mines site

SALT LAKE CITY – March 23, 2015 – A “safety first” approach has made it two safe years and counting for Boart Longyear’s (www.BoartLongyear.com) team at Northparkes Mines in New South Wales, Australia. The crew has not had a lost-time injury (LTI) since its arrival onsite at Northparkes as a drilling contractor, recently passing the milestone of two years LTI-free.

Boart Longyear’s “safety first” approach to drilling focuses on keeping people safe with zero injuries, zero illnesses and protecting the environment with zero environmental incidents.

Northparkes is a copper and gold mine located approximately 225 miles (360km) west of Sydney. It is a joint venture between China Molybdenum Co., Ltd (CMOC) (80%) and the Sumitomo Groups (20%).

In addition to its safety performance, the Boart Longyear crew won the site’s Zero Harm award for workplace improvements, including elevated platforms on diamond drill rigs, water control systems and above-ground sumps for both reverse circulation and diamond drilling.
