Barker Trailers Builds on Positive Direction

Committed to its role as a key player in the local manufacturing of quality trailers, Barker Trailers is continuing to expand on its great depth, with Chief Executive Officer Simon Meadows assembling a senior management structure to take the 43-year-old Barker Trailers business well into the future.

One of the latest additions is the announcement of Rod Cunningham to the role of General Manager Sales and Marketing.  “Rod’s experience includes a variety of senior management roles across the industry, from components, through to truck and Trailer OEMs.  Such broad experience across the Australian transport market is a perfect complement to the strong Barker offering going forward,” stated Simon.

Confidence and demand for the Barker product offering has always been strong and Barker Trailers has confidently taken hold of the positive feedback and orders received from the recent Brisbane Truck Show to continue its focus on reinvigorating the team and its commitment to the market, whilst maintaining its renowned approach to trailer innovation, design and engineering.

“We’ve given the market a peek into the future of Barker Trailers with both our Curtain-Sided and Refuse Trailer models undergoing improvements with new features which will further help capitalise on the increased demand for our transport solutions in the Australian market,” explained Simon.

“The last couple of years have been particularly challenging for the industry, however Barker Trailers has focussed on ensuring it has the right balance of resources in place to maintain its commitment to quality and strong market position. We have focussed heavily on ensuring we have the best people, processes, and systems and with the appointment of key experienced personnel such as Rod Cunningham and a significant increase to our workforce labour, we are well positioned to meet renewed demand across all our market segments.”

Indeed, the relaunched Barker easy operation “Iconic” Curtain sider encapsulates all the hallmarks of the long-standing quality that the brand is known for.

With a new aerodynamic nose cone, improved guards and leg mounting, along with state-of-the-art monitoring systems, these improvements are further evidence that Barker Trailers are prepared to invest in every aspect of their business to ensure it maintains its position as a leading Australian manufacturer and supplier of custom solutions that meet the unique requirements of local operators.

Established in Woodend, Victoria in 1974, Barker Trailers now utilises over 30,000 square metres of factory space and services the whole country with great trailer freight solutions. In the coming months, Rod will be taking the opportunity to meet with transport operators across Australia to highlight how the Company’s experienced team and customer driven focus will provide first class solutions and service.
