ALTA are pleased to announce a focussed one-day ISR Symposium, organised in cooperation with CSIRO Minerals, will be included in ALTA 2018. The Symposium will be held Wednesday 23 May, and follows the three previous ISR events organised by CSIRO.
The technology or methodology of in-situ recovery (ISR, also called in-situ leaching or solution mining) can be defined as the extraction of values from host rock by chemical solutions and the recovery of the values at the surface. ISR has been mainly limited to roll front sandstone type uranium deposits which have suitable permeability. However, developing technology such as fracking has the potential to open the door to the treatment of a wider range of ore deposits and recovery of other metals such as gold and copper.
Advances in Australia and elsewhere involving drilling, sensors and resource characterisation, geology, hydrogeology and modelling, hydrometallurgy, downstream processing, fluid-flow engineering, material science and environmental science (amongst others) have led to a renewed enthusiasm for the consideration of this approach to counter the economic backdrop of ever-increasing pressures on capital and operating costs and production margins.
Regarded as one of the world’s leading annual metallurgical events, the ALTA Conference is an annual gathering of the global Nickel, Cobalt, Copper, Uranium, Rare Earths, Lithium, Gold and Precious Metals industries. It is known for providing exceptional opportunities for the industry to share ideas, innovations, projects and opportunities, and develop new contacts and broader networks. The conference feature highly-focused programs, topical forums and panels, and presentations by key international speakers.
ALTA 2018 is the 23rd year of this major international event and will be held 19-26 May in Perth, Australia. For more information, please visit https://www.altamet.com.au/conferences/alta-2018/
