Using time lapse video to show 15,272 temperature records falling across the USA
March 2012 broke all the hot weather records in the USA. It was the warmest month in the eastern two-thirds of the USA since records, going back to 1895, were kept.
The National Climatic Data Center (http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/sotc/) uploaded an animation showing the locations of each of the 7,755 daytime and 7,517 nighttime records (or tied records) in sequence over the 31 days in March.
