Mining’s old guard needs strong medicine

Gold is flirting with the $1,600 level, having dropped 0.88% to $1,714.80/oz. Silver is down a full percentage point and trading at $32.545/oz.
Copper is the only bright spot, which is up 0.32% to $3.476.
