Whitehaven Coal sees higher prices on disruptions
The company's Blackwater and Daunia mines in Queensland, which it recently purchased from BHP, produced 4.8 million tonnes.
According to BHP Billiton Limited, Tropical Cyclone Hamish has disrupted its coal shipping operations at Gladstone and Hay Point ports on the Queensland coast.
Ms Samantha Evans a spokeswoman for Melbourne based BHP said that Gladstone port has been shut since 6 AM yesterday and rail transport to the site was suspended at 6 PM last night. Shipping is resuming at the more northerly Hay Point terminal owned by BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance after the port reopened at 5 PM yesterday….more at steelguru
