This is the 106-carat diamond Alrosa unearthed from its Jubilee pipe
Russia’s Alrosa, the world’s top diamond producer by output in carats, said Thursday it has recovered a 105.6-carat diamond from the Jubilee kimberlite pipe.
The stone, described as being of “4 Black Sawables 2 colour” quality with an octahedral shape, was extracted by the company’s business unit, Aikhal Mining and Processing Division (MPD).
The diamond, said Alrosa, is transparent, with moderate yellowish hue, and small olivine, graphite and sulphide inclusions.
In October, the miner unearthed a 103-carat stone from the same pipe, which is renowned for yielding large rocks.
