One of the most debated issues in regional Australia today is the mining industry practice of fly-in-fly-out operations.

It is a particularly interesting issue in Western Australia because there was a time in the 1960s and ’70s when townships were developed by the mining companies to support the expansion of the mining sector in the north of the state.
