As the largest open-pit gold mine, the Faimiston Open Pit, commonly called the Super Pit, cuts an oblong shape out of Western Australia 3.5 km long, 1.5 km wide and 320 meters deep. The Super Pit produces around 850,000 ounces of gold each year.
