TEFSA and Della Toffola broaden mining presence

TEFSA-Group, a Spanish-based designer and manufacturer of liquid/solid separation equipment is expanding its minerals industry presence in North America. TEFSA-USA was a first time exhibitor at the 2007 SME Annual Conference in Denver and has appointed Nortec S.G.S. as its representative in Eastern Canada including Ontario and Quebec.

TEFSA currently produces and supplies over 35 different products including chamber and membrane filter presses up to 2,000 x 2,000 mm, belt filter presses, vacuum filters (drum and belt types), Lasmert thickeners and drive heads. Most models can be fully automated.

TEFSA claims its standard Overhead Filter Press product line is one of the most technically advanced on the market today. It offers fully-automatic or manual control, plate sizes ranging from 630 x 630 mm up to 2,000 x 2,000 mm, and a maximum capacity of 175 plates operating up to 16 bar pressure. Besides cloth and cake washing capabilities, TEFSA says its overhead design also “offers some of the industry’s most rapid cycle times delivering higher, faster throughput for increased production.”

The Sidebar Filter Press is a cost-effective solution for producing high solids filter cake with liquid effluent clarity. The sidebar design features a sidebar plate transport system with plate sizes ranging from 300 x 300 mm up to 1,500 x 1,500 mm and working pressure rating of up to 16 bar as standard.

TEFSA Belt Presses are designed to deliver optimum performance. For example, the TEFSA BSPP model belt press, dryness levels ranging from 20 to 42%, dependent on the sludge type, have been demonstrated in actual application results collected from over 2,500 installed units. Meanwhile, its vacuum drum filters are continuous filtration units, with the traditional design of a drum suspended in a trough equipped with an agitator. The continuous rotation of the drum allows the unit to filter the product, wash the cake, dry the cake and discharge the cake without interruption. Drum diameters range from 520 mm to 4.180 m, with filtration areas from 0.25 m² to 100 m².

The product line also includes Lasmert Thickeners in diameters ranging from 5 to 50 m. The complete assembly consists of a main tank, manufactured with prefabricated concrete panels or steel welded plates, a feeding cylinder, and a choice of two powerful drive head options to control internal mechanisms of the tank.

Italy’s Della Toffola, an exhibitor at Bauma also offers a wide range of filter presses. There are those in which the filtering cycle is always automatic and requires no supervision, while the displacement of the plates to unload the filter is done by hand. With plate sizes from 400 x 400 up to 1,000 x 1,000 mm, this press comes in versions with plates that have fixed chambers or may be fitted with membranes, or with plates and sheets. Another option for these is with an automatic system to displace the plates. And yet another of the company’s automatic presses incorporates a vibrating system that shakes out any remains of the filter cakes.

There are also rotary vacuum filters with precoats. These are available with either an external or internal filtrate extraction pump.

Della Toffola also offers industrial waste water treatment systems. The company would undertake the feasibility study and the design of the water treatment system then produce the machinery necessary or an entire turnkey system.
