Soros Fund Management, run by well-known investor George Soros, revealed on Monday that it owns 15.5 million shares of Platinum Group Metals.
On Monday the fund’s Schedule 13G was released, an SEC form companies must file when ownership of an investment exceeds 5%. The fund owns 9.73% of Platinum Group Metals.
Platinum Group Metals is based in Vancouver, B.C., and Johannesburg, South Africa. It holds mineral rights in the Bushveld Igneous Complex of South Africa, the world’s largest reserve of platinum group metals. It also holds PGE rights to some properties in Canada.
Earlier in the year, Soros made waves when he declared gold was the “ultimate bubble”. Regardless, his fund was shown to have significant gold weighting.
