As most of the other high-ranking countries, Switzerland is also big on low-carbon, affordable nuclear energy. However, the country plans to gradually phase out nuclear power by 2060 and reduce its greenhouse emissions by one-fifth by 2020. Although hydro-power is the country’s biggest source of electricity, the WEF cautions that Switzerland may face electricity supply issues once it weans itself off nuclear power.
