Nuclear power plant in France
Nuclear energy – which contributes practically nothing to emissions – accounts for more than 45% of France’s total primary energy supply and 75% of its total power-generating capacity. France is addressing safety concerns related to nuclear energy through an independent Nuclear Safety Authority and a comprehensive framework for managing radioactive waste and materials. But the country also has plans to diversify its energy portfolio and reduce its reliance on uranium.
